Born in Tokyo, Japan. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Tokyo.

Miki Meguro has put on many solo shows and many group shows in Tokyo, N.Y., London, Berlin and etc since 1998. Joined some art fairs of “ Red Dot Art Fair” in Miami in 2013 and “Salon Art Shopping” in Paris in 2014 & 2015. She also currently organizes collaboration events with musicians. Her paintings show the inner world of her life, getting inspiration from music, relationship, nature and contemporary society. She expresses herself with various materials such as oils, acrylics, paper, wood, and wires on board.

A tree is my main theme since 1995. A tree is the symbol of “Life ” for me. The roots grow deeper in the ground, the branches grow up to the sky. I want people to live like an energetic tree, going through many paths like branches of the tree.

Recent theme of roses is the symbol of “Love ” for me. There are many types of Love. It’s happy, painful, peaceful, passionate, etc. It’s something that embraces the whole world. We’ve been influenced by various feelings from experiences and relationship with people. And they give us many thoughts and lead us to the new world.

I was grown up in an artistic family. My father is a designer, my mother is a Japanese style painter and  my grandfather was a cartoonist. My grandmother made Japanese poem, Tanka and the other grandmother used to paint and create various things all the time. So I’ve been creating since it’s the way to live like eating and sleeping.

My art works represent a deep inner world. Through my art I explore the power of nature in our current society, and deep human emotions affected by daily life, and my relationships with people at every stage of my life. Through my creative work, I want to give everyone energy and I also want to create a space where various people can get to know each other. I want to unite people to create positive energy, to change something, inspiring each other.

Concept

My art works represent a deep inner world. Through my art I explore the power of nature in our current society, and deep human emotions affected by daily life, and my relationships with people at every stage of my life. Through my creative work, I want to give everyone energy and I also want to create a space where various people can get to know each other. I want to unite people to create positive energy, to change something, inspiring each other.

Main Theme

Tree

A tree is my main theme since 1995. A tree is the symbol of life for me. The roots grow deeper into the ground, the branches grow up to the sky. I want people to live like an energetic tree, going through many paths like branches of the tree. Trees represent the life and the modern society.

Landscape

I was born and grew up in Tokyo. I’m still living there. Tokyo is the city filled with energy and everything changes so quickly and at the same time, there are quiet nature and tradition. I’ve been influence by the environment.

My art work represents the harmony of the city and nature and it also features various emotion and drama of people living in the chaotic society in the city.

Rose

Rose is the symbol of “Love” for me. There are many types of Love. It’s happy, painful, sad, peaceful, passionate, etc. It’s close to you or something that embraces the whole world. Not only love, but we’ve been influenced by various feelings from experiences and relationship with people. And they give us many thoughts and lead us somewhere. That is what I represent.

Fantasy

Features fantasy dreamy healing world inspired by intuition.

Abstract

It comes from coincidence and unconsciousness.
